This vintage Stay-Brite stainless steel IWC Ingenieur 666AD dates to 1966, and is fitted to its original stainless steel Gay Freres rice bracelet with matching year inside the clasp.
These Ingenieurs were fairly large watches for the time measuring 36.5mm and was fairly thick using a antimagnetic cover sandwiched between the case back and case. The watch is regarded as one of the first toll watches made for the civilian market and is utilitarian in its purpose.
The 1st generation 666AD Ingeniuer was produced between 1958-1967 housing a pellaton automatic Caliber 8531 with its offset date window. The watch has its original cyclops date magnifier, and option at time of purchase.
"understatement is part of the family tradition." was used in their advertisment. This along with the outstanding quality of the Ingenieur meant it was built to last.
This Ingenieur has developed a unique and pleasing champagne colouring, which only adds to its overall simplicity and charm.
