Up for consideration is an exceptionally scarce Omega Speedmaster “Speedy Moon” Ref. ST345.0809 — Produced in extremely limited numbers—believed to be approximately 1,300 pieces between 1984 and 1988—this reference occupies a special place in Speedmaster lore as one of the rarest and most desirable moonphase variants ever created.
This example presents in truly outstanding vintage condition. It features the iconic four-register layout with moonphase and date display at 12 o’clock, framed by the classic black tachymeter bezel that defines the Speedmaster Professional line. The dial and tritium lume remain all original, with the plots ageing gracefully to a rich, warm yellow tone—an aesthetic that only untouched tritium can deliver.
Completing the watch is the highly sought-after 1450 “thick-link” bracelet with the correct Speedmaster-engraved clasp with 809 ends—a combination seldom found intact and a major collector draw in its own right.
We have been quietly searching for a top-flight example of this reference for the better part of a decade, and it is with real pride that we can finally present this piece. Examples surface rarely; examples in this condition almost never.
As we head into the Christmas and New Year season, we are thrilled to offer a Speedmaster that will speak deeply to collectors—an extraordinary opportunity to secure one of the most elusive and charismatic models in the vintage Speedmaster family.
The watch is in excellent running condition, with original box.
