Up for sale is a truly outstanding 1958 Omega Seamaster, reference 2976-2, featuring the rare and highly desirable oversized 38mm case.

 

Sharing some of its design DNA with the legendary Railmaster of the 1950s, this unusual Seamaster is believed to have been produced predominantly for the Asian market and offers a distinctive departure from the more conventional models of the period.

 

The watch features a beautifully proportioned two-tone dial, with a soft, slightly off-white centre contrasted against a subtle grey outer section. The result is a wonderfully understated aesthetic, complemented by the original non-luminous dial configuration, a characteristic often associated with watches destined for the Asian market.

 

What makes this example particularly special is its rare oversized 38mm case and clean, non-date dial configuration. These watches are seldom encountered, particularly in such an attractive combination. Having previously handled another example, we can certainly appreciate just how uncommon and appealing these oversized Seamasters are.

 

With its generous proportions, elegant two-tone dial and unmistakable 1950s character, this is a vintage Omega that wears exceptionally well on the wrist, offering considerably more presence than the typical Seamasters of the era. It also features the larger Seahorse medallion on it's caseback.
