Made by the Ball Swiss Watch Company founded in Le Chaux de fonds in 1891 this MARES Quartz has a distinctive look very similar in design terms to the AP Royal Oak. The octoganal shape case with the screws and dark grey tapisserie dial are homage to it.
The dial has a tritium patina forming in the hands and hour indexes which is highly attractive. The case measures 38mm excluding the screwdown waterproof crown.
The bracelet seems to be the original, but has not got a signed clasp. It suits the watch perfectly.
If you want a very unique brand with Royal Oak vibe for a fraction of the price but with real quality, now's your chance.
Mares was founded in 1949 by Ludovico Mares who were at the forefront of innovation in the world for Scuba and Diving gear. This watch was perhaps commissioned by Ball Watch Company, who also made Dive watches to produced something functional and waterproof during the production of other notable brands using this similar design.
