Up for sale is a striking mid-century Omega from the 1950s, reference 2605, housed in a substantial 38mm oversized case with the rare and highly distinctive spider-lug design. Large for the era and seldom encountered in such preserved condition, this is a watch that immediately stands apart.
The original dial is the true star of the show: a deep honeyed honeycomb finish with wonderful warmth and texture, set against contrasting rose-gold batons and elegant dauphine hands. It is an exceptionally attractive and honest example, retaining the kind of originality so often lost on these references, many of which have fallen victim to refinishing over the years. This one remains all original, right down to its correct early crown.
At its heart is a manually wound movement, exactly as a watch of this period should be, delivering that pure, uncomplicated Omega charm from an era when the brand was producing some of the finest simple three-hand watches of the century.
Please note there are a few very light scratches to the plexi, though these are only superficial and do not affect the dial beneath.
A beautifully preserved, oversized 1950s Omega with rare case architecture, excellent originality, and tremendous wrist presence.
