Here we have another cornerstone of the Vision Vintage Watches curated collection: a superb 1969 Tudor Date-Day Jumbo, reference 7017/0. Housed in a full stainless steel 38mm Oyster screw-down case, this is one of those pieces that perfectly demonstrates Tudor’s ability to offer something Rolex simply did not in steel at the time. Where Rolex generally remained at 36mm, Tudor pushed things that little bit further, and the result is a watch with real wrist presence while still retaining all the balance and restraint of a classic Oyster case.

 

This example features the lovely flat-sided Oyster case and an outstanding silver sunburst dial in mint condition. The dial catches the light beautifully, shifting with every movement of the wrist, while the warm lemon lume to the hands and hour plots adds just the right amount of vintage character. It is an exceptionally clean watch overall, so much so that at a glance it could easily pass for something far newer.

 

Fitted to its original Rolex 7836 folded-link bracelet with 20mm 354 end links, it wears exactly as you would want a vintage Tudor Jumbo to wear: comfortable, substantial, and effortlessly versatile. Equally at home on its bracelet or paired with a strap through the summer months, this is one of those rare watches that genuinely works for every setting, from daily wear through to something a little smarter.

 

Tudor Jumbos have long been appreciated by collectors for offering that extra size and presence without losing the classic charm of vintage Oyster design, and examples in this kind of condition rarely appear. When they do, they tend not to hang around for long.
