An stunningly aged early 1953 Rolex Oyster "Ovettone" 6305-2 with roulette date and uncommonly seen "solo" dial configuration, without the mention of "Datejust" on the dial. This was featured on the earliest examples of which I have seen less of that red writing ones.
The case, measuring 36mm is well proportioned, the start of the Datejust and its early lineage, in a full stainless steel case. The 6305-2 boasts a lovely machine milled steel bezel, and the case is thick and lug holes are positioned well.
The case features a semi bubbleback "Ovettone" meaning big egg, which gives the watch a bigger more present feeling on wrist.
The dial is GLORIOUS turned to a deep TROPICAL burnished orange that lights up in the sun, and those gilt daggar hour markers are each filled with a stunning hue of patina that lights up the dial.
Seldom do you find rarity, character and beauty & vintage charm in one watch! Well look no further...
The exclusivity of these early watches and the fact that collectors are quietly squirelling them away, proves that they are rare and haven't yet had the full attention by the wider community... This in time will certainly change considering how outstanding they are and the historic importance of arguably the most popular and well known model in Rolex's history!
