A subtle and superbly executed design, this UG Polerouter 'Jet' has a angular and elegant case design featuring a rare double signed dial by the Reading, UK clockmakers - J.W. Benson. The company were a well established Clockmaker and sometimes ordered pieces with their company branding on the dials to retail for special customers or occasions. Case and point here. This is a rare combination, and relatively hard to find.
J.W. Benson eventually sold their company to Garrards Jewellers.
The Polerouter model was originally designed by Gerald Genta in 1954. Universal Genève had several Polerouter models and here we have the Polerouter Jet in stainless steel. This simple time-only Calatrava-style watch has some subtle features that make it stand apart from the rest. It is super thin with an automatic movement thanks to the microrotor movement. Also, it has a screw-down case, applied logo, and long, faceted lugs. The hour markers are actually carved into the dial and each has a small lume plot at the end. The dauphine hands stand out and are very legible, adding to the functionality of this watch. The Polerouter Jet is a prime example of why less can be more
