Up for sale is a superb and seldom-seen 1960s Omega Constellation Jumbo, reference 168.001.
The 168.001 is an unusual Constellation reference, distinguished by its oversized stainless-steel case, giving it considerably more wrist presence than the more familiar Constellations of the period. This particular example features a beautifully sharp case that appears to remain unpolished, complete with the original 18ct gold Constellation observatory medallion to the case back showing all the stars.
These oversized Constellations are believed to have been produced predominantly for Asian markets during the mid-1960s and are considerably less common than their standard-sized counterparts.
What really sets this example apart is the dial. Perfect egg-shell white. It features extremely unusual gold dial furniture, a configuration very seldom encountered on the reference 168.001 and one we have personally not seen on another example. Against the classic Constellation dial, the gold furniture gives the watch a wonderfully distinctive appearance while retaining the understated elegance for which these early Constellations are known.
A particularly special example of an already scarce Omega reference, combining the desirable Jumbo proportions, seemingly untouched case and an exceptionally unusual dial configuration.
