During a small window of watches during the 60s the Rolex Datejust line experimented with many dial processes and design details that we have all come to love about the brand, in this case a dial we have come to love nicknamed "ghost" has become a highly coveted variation, with a matte light grey dial, white raised lettering, and painted white hour batons and tritium hour plots. It combines this sort of chameleon aspect that shows the script from one angle, and, with a small tilt of the wrist it dissapears, seemingly vanishes in to a thin air.....Creating the ghost effect.

The combination of clean pie pan grey dial, characteful lume, a clean steel 1600 bezel on Oyster 7836 is just a perfect combination, one of the nicest we have seen on the market, perfectly preserved.

The Datejust line, in our opinion is the sweet spot now in vintage Rolex where unusual designs really strike a visual chord against the other models that didn't share as much variation over the years of production. 

Don't rest on your laurels with these as the chance of finding a lovely example such as this is few and far between.
