Up for sale is a superb circa 1980s Tudor Oyster Prince Oysterdate, reference 9080/0, featuring the desirable oversized 38mm stainless-steel case.

Often referred to as a “Jumbo” Tudor, the 9080/0 has considerably more wrist presence than many of the Oyster Prince models of the period. The stainless-steel case is complemented by its screw-down Rolex-signed crown with the distinctive underline, reinforcing the close relationship between Tudor and Rolex during this era.

The real highlight of this example, however, is the dial. It features an incredibly alluring deep charcoal-black sunburst finish which changes considerably depending on the light. In normal conditions it appears almost black, while under stronger light subtle charcoal and dark green tones begin to emerge from the sunburst surface.

The dial is finished with applied baton hour markers, the applied Tudor shield at 12 and wonderfully substantial lume-filled hands. The lume itself has survived beautifully, giving the watch a particularly clean and cohesive appearance.

The case remains strong overall, showing some light wear and evidence of light polishing consistent with its age, but retaining excellent presence and those impressive Jumbo proportions. The serial has been sligtly worn due to the bracelet, but we can detect it is from the early 1980s. The plexiglass is clean and the watch presents very well throughout.

Completing the package is an original Tudor stainless-steel  Oyster bracelet, reference 6248-19, fitted between the substantial 20mm lugs and carrying an S5 clasp code.

Mechanically, the watch has recently been serviced and is running phenomenally well.

These oversized Tudor Oyster Prince models offer fantastic wrist presence and represent a particularly interesting period in Tudor's history, combining unmistakable Rolex Oyster construction with Tudor's own increasingly distinctive design language.

A very clean and striking example of the Jumbo 9080/0, elevated by that superb colour-shifting charcoal-black sunburst dial and original Rolex/Tudor bracelet.
