Tudor Prince-Oysterdate Matte Grey 7966

Up for sale is this superb 1966 Tudor Oyster Prince, reference 7906, featuring a seldom-seen grey slate matte dial.

Produced during one of Tudor’s most celebrated periods, examples with this grey dial configuration are particularly uncommon. The dial has aged beautifully, with the deep yellow patina of the luminous hour markers contrasting wonderfully against the cool slate-grey surface — a combination that really comes alive on the wrist.

Housed in a classic 35mm stainless-steel Oyster case and fitted to its original reference 7834 bracelet, the watch remains in excellent overall condition.

The Oyster Prince is one of Tudor’s most enduring designs, combining the robust Rolex Oyster case construction with Tudor’s understated character. At 35mm, it has wonderfully balanced proportions and wears exceptionally well, while that rare grey dial and beautifully aged lume give this particular example a presence far beyond its dimensions.

A very attractive and unusual vintage Tudor, and one of those watches that looks even better in person.
