  • Produced during the late 1960s, the Omega Chronostop Genève was conceived for a new generation of motoring enthusiasts who wanted a practical and stylish way to time laps without the complexity of a traditional chronograph.

Available in both conventional and “Driver” configurations, the latter featured a cleverly rotated dial and movement, allowing the time to be read naturally while gripping the steering wheel in the classic 10-to-2 driving position. It was an innovative and distinctly Omega solution, perfectly capturing the spirit of the era’s fascination with motorsport and modern industrial design.

This example is the desirable reference 146.009, featuring the useful date complication. While a non-date version was also available, the addition of the date made the Chronostop an even more versatile everyday companion, equally at home away from the circuit.

Measuring a perfectly balanced 35mm, the watch has a wonderfully restrained aesthetic. The subtly grey-toned dial is framed by a crisp white outer timing track, while the vibrant red central chronograph hand provides a striking splash of colour and reinforces its sporting character. The minimalist single-register layout embodies the “less is more” philosophy that has made these watches increasingly sought after by collectors.

The stainless steel case remains in excellent condition, appearing close to unpolished with strong factory lines intact. Completing the package is a black Omega calfskin strap fitted with its original stainless steel Omega buckle.

Elegant, innovative, and unmistakably rooted in the golden age of motorsport, the Chronostop Genève remains one of Omega’s most distinctive and underrated chronographs—a watch that perfectly blends 1960s racing heritage with timeless design.
