Up for sale is this beautiful 1966 Omega Constellation Chronometer, housed in the desirable jumbo-size case, reference 168.004.

 

The standout feature is undoubtedly the dial, which has developed a stunning, deep sun-kissed patina over the past 60 years. Sometimes referred to by collectors as a “crème brûlée” dial, it has aged to a wonderfully warm orange-caramel hue, giving the watch tremendous character and making each example completely unique.

 

The reference 168.004 features the attractive wider bezel design and measures approximately 35.5mm, giving it noticeably more wrist presence than many Constellations of the period. These wear exceptionally well as a modern-day vintage watch, particularly when paired, as here, with a rich deep-green calf leather strap.

 

Inside is Omega’s highly regarded automatic calibre 561 chronometer movement, adjusted to five positions. The watch has been timed and is ready to be worn and enjoyed.

 

A particularly characterful example of one of Omega’s great 1960s Constellation references, combining the larger case proportions with a beautifully and naturally aged dial.
