Up for sale is a superb 1960s Zenith Autosport Luxe, featuring the high-beat 28,800 automatic movement and a particularly striking burgundy bullseye-style dial.
The dial is undoubtedly the star of the show, with its rich burgundy tones contrasted by matching burgundy inlays through the hands and beautifully preserved tritium lume. Around the perimeter sits a fantastic shark-tooth-style seconds track, adding another layer of detail and giving the watch that unmistakable sporting character of the period.
The watch is housed in a wonderfully shaped stainless-steel C-case, a design that bridges the late 1960s and the more adventurous Autosport styling that would become synonymous with the early 1970s. The case remains in excellent condition for its age, retaining good definition and visible areas of its brushed finishing.
Inside sits Zenith's high-beat automatic movement, operating at 28,800 vibrations per hour—a technically impressive movement and another element that makes these vintage Zeniths particularly interesting.
We've paired the watch with a contrasting deep red strap, which works beautifully with the burgundy tones of the dial and really brings the whole watch together on the wrist.
Overall, this is a wonderfully preserved and extremely characterful Zenith with fantastic wrist presence. The combination of the bullseye dial, shark-tooth outer track, C-shaped case and high-beat automatic movement perfectly captures that transitional late-'60s/early-'70s Autosport aesthetic.
A very cool vintage Zenith and exactly the sort of unusual dial configuration we love discovering here at Vision Vintage.
