Omega Marine Quartz Ref. 196.004
Up for sale we have this incredibly cool 1980s Omega Marine Quartz, reference 196.0054, featuring a wonderfully distinctive, Royal Oak-esque design and a beautifully preserved, unpolished faceted stainless-steel case.
The angular case has an almost porthole-inspired appearance, giving the watch a strong nautical character and a fantastic presence on the wrist. It is paired with a generic steel bracelet that is period-correct in style and complements the watch beautifully.
The dial is particularly striking, finished in jet black with crisp white accents and wonderfully aged lemon tritium, which has deepened naturally over the decades and provides a superb contrast against the dark dial.
At its heart sits Omega's calibre 1310 quartz movement, developed during an era when exceptional accuracy and reliability were becoming increasingly important, particularly for practical sporting and marine use. The movement is running well and keeping excellent time.
Presented in excellent overall condition, this is a wonderfully characterful piece of 1980s Omega design—angular, purposeful and unmistakably of its era, while still looking remarkably contemporary on the wrist.
