A classic Denisteel Omega with uncommonly seen full applied arabic dial
1952 Omega Denisteel Full Arabic Numeral
A beautiful and wonderfully understated 1950s Omega sub-seconds, embodying the elegant simplicity that defined Omega’s post-war dress watches. Powering the watch is the highly respected manually wound calibre 266 movement with 17 jewels, a member of Omega’s celebrated 30mm movement family, admired for its reliability, robustness and smooth performance.
Housed within a classic 33.5mm Dennison steel case produced for the UK market, this watch carries a distinct charm of its own. During the period, Omega frequently utilised English-made cases to meet import regulations and taxes, making these Dennison-cased examples an interesting and desirable part of Omega collecting history today. Inside sits a Swiss-signed movement bearing the Omega Watch Company signature, completing a lovely Anglo-Swiss combination.
The dial is where the character truly shines through. A beautifully preserved off-white matte surface displays a warmth that only age can create, paired with a subsidiary seconds register at six o’clock that adds balance and vintage sophistication. Contrasting against this soft creamy backdrop are gilt Arabic numerals and elegant baton hands, catching the light beautifully and providing just the right amount of warmth and richness to the design.
There is a timeless honesty to watches such as this — no unnecessary complication, no excess, simply a beautifully proportioned vintage Omega with all the charm and elegance that has made these mid-century pieces so enduringly attractive to collectors today.
The watch comes with an Omega pin buckle to complete the look.
