Here we have a lovely early Rolex Oyster, dating to 1956, reference 6427.
This particularly attractive example features the distinctive engine-turned milled bezel, which beautifully frames the uncommon herringbone-style dial. Over the past 70 years, the dial has developed a wonderfully deep and warm patina, with rich burnished auburn and autumnal brown tones.
Most interestingly, the patina has formed an almost maple-leaf-like pattern across the dial, reminiscent of the Canadian emblem. It gives the watch a completely individual appearance and a character that could only have developed naturally over many decades.
The classic Oyster case remains in good, honest condition and measures a healthy 35mm excluding the crown, giving the watch excellent proportions and making it very wearable by modern standards.
It retains its original Rolex coronet crown with underline and is paired with a vintage-style dark brown calf leather strap, finished with a Rolex steel pin buckle.
A superb and wonderfully characterful early Rolex Oyster, combining an unusual textured dial, distinctive milled bezel and a truly unique patina.
