Produced in 1944, this stunning early Omega Moonphase, reference 2471-1, features a beautifully preserved two-tone dial with outer blue Arabic numerals, elegant blue feuille hands, and the moonphase display at 6 o’clock.
The dial is distinguished by applied foil numerals at 12, 4, 8, and 10, complemented by contrasting cabochon steel hour markers. This is the desirable non-luminous variant, making it an especially uncommon and highly collectible example.
These dials are notoriously susceptible to ageing and are often found with significant deterioration, making this watch particularly impressive. The dial has weathered remarkably well for its age, while the case retains its crisp, well-defined lyre lugs and is fitted with its original Omega crown.
Early Omega Moonphase models in this condition are exceptionally difficult to source and remain one of the most underrated watches in Omega’s vintage catalogue. Experienced collectors immediately recognise these references and understand just how rare it is to find one with such an original, well-preserved dial.
