  • Outstanding 1950s Rodania Geometer with Valjoux 72

Believed to be the influential driving force behind the design for the 1958 Omega Speedmaster 2915-1, this Rodania Geometer is an elsusive bird which predates this. It was really a grail watch to find for me for many, many years, and believe the watch stands alone in it’s design, it really is less is more, and just pure function.

We have only seen a handful of good examples over the last 10 years of collecting and sourcing. The watch dates to around 1954 and has a classic matte black triple register dial design, with amazing dauphine handset with luminous insert hands (very Speedmaster in style). There were two variants of hands, full lume and dauphine with inserts. The latter being less common in my observation.

The lume is uniform and jusy drop dead gorgeous, It is rare to find sucha nicely formed original patina on these, and this one is probably the best i've ever seen.

The matte black dial is excellent, no visible wear or marks unless you magnify it by 1000 x you will struggle to fault this dial, it's preservation is enviable.

The case is is thick, light wear and small marks of use but judging my the clarity of the famously light reference engraving it is noticbly well preserved case which original fat pushers an crown.

The movement is exactly as same configeration as the white albino example we had last year which, instead of being engraved Rodania on the bridge, is engraved under the chronograph wheel. Zoom in to see this as it is not immediately obvious but 100% correct and maybe only exclusive to earlier versions.

The movement is the venerable valjoux 72, fully serviced, stripped down and timed. It is a stunning movement and in good shape.

All in all one of the best i've ever seen and has it's orignal plexi, which has been polished and preserved to keep the watch as original as possible.
