  • A rare and fine example of a 1963 Rolex Explorer Precision 5500 with gilt double swiss exclamation mark dial.

    The caliber 1530 chronometer movement relates to the "Super" Precision script on the dial. The 1520 was named with only "Precision" on its dial making it less rare.

    The 5500 or 1002 (Rolex used both case refs inside the caseback for this model)  is essentially a Air King reference, but  some were made with an Explorer dial fitted, making it uncommon to find. Comes paired on a Rolex USA (7-65) riveted oyster bracelet.

    It is worth noting the last example sold out of Philips Auction acheived 32,500 CHF around 25,000 pounds. Our example is considerably less.
