Produced in 1972 this stunning purple//blue sunburst reference 1553 "Keyhole" is an uncommon bird, having been produced typically with a brushed blue dial, not this sunburst style, it stands out against other Carerras of this era.
The hour markers also have full lume strips, when they are usually only lumed at the tips of each hour index, making this an uncommon variant. The lume has aged perfectly to a deep apricot and it is totally original, and fast fading.
The metallic silver “keyhole” subdial and “Carerra” at 3 position really change the look and feel compared to the standard twin register design, it really pops in the light, and that orange seconds gives it an even cooler feeling of vintage nostalgia.
It is powered by the venerable Caliber 15, all signed correctly and it is running plus 2/3 seconds a day.. which is chronometer standard!
The case is honest, with a few marks and light wear from use.
Original crown and grooved pushers.
This is an iconic Carerra design with beautiful colours from the hey day of racing chronographs.
It comes paired on a handmade blue rally strap and Heuer aftermarket pin buckle.
