A truly stunning example of a 1970s Rolex with factory blue "Shantung" dial with its silky mosaic style fibre dial it is extremely beautiful and uncommon to find in this condition. 

The reference 1500 Date models need no introduction, and are a staple in the Rolex references.  This classic and easy to wear watch is paired on its original oytser bracelet in good condition showing minimal stretch for its age. It will fit up to a 7.5 inch wrist.

The lume plots are all in tact and have developed a deep orange patina. The hands have aged darker as is usually the case on unmolestered examples. Many with perfectly matching lume are usually relumed at service intervals. So it is good to see honest hands on a watch of this type.

The Shantung dials in our opinion are some of the most mystic and elusive watches Rolex made and stand out a mile compared to the normally sedate silver or black dials which also have their place.
