1981 Rolex Explorer Matte Dial 1016 MKIV Unpolished

Here we have an example of the iconic 1016 Explorer in its totally original state, featuring a thick case, beautiful matte black MKIV dial, a beautifully aged deep coloured tritium evenly distributed across the dial. The original hands preserved in excellent shape with matching custard tritium.

This example is probably one of the best MKIV's we have had with the original domed plexiglass, and original oyster screw down crown.

This example has a 6 million serial range dating it to 1981 approx. The correct serial range for an MKIV dial featuring the "Tall Coronet", one of my all time favourite dials for the 1016.

The case has thick shoulders, and is unpolished state, with the typical light wear you would associate with a watch of this age.

The 78360 bracelet is in good condition and predates the watch by a few years.

The watch also comes with it's original green Rolex box, perfect for storing away this beauty.

We do not have the service history. The watch is running well +/3 secs a day with 240 amplitude.
