The Gallet brand has been around since 1466 when Humbertus Gallet, a clockmaker became a Swiss citizen. Being one of the oldest watchmakers in the world they produced some of the most innovative, patented designs ever made for aviation, military, sports and racing. The clamshell was the first waterproof case design built by Gallet using four screws at each lug point, making it like a sandwich of case dial and movement. Making it one of the most important designs in the history of design. Now focusing on the dial. Here you will find a “tropic” patina with beautiful contrasting radium mass, applied numerals.

This was the second-generation model, and issued to military for pilots.

The case is a classic 'Clamshell' with turn down lugs, and 12 hr. rotating bezel.

The caseback plays a small part in the provenance, and enhances the history of the watch, as it is engraved 'DR C.M. Looney' the Team Doctor.

This is an excellent example of a highly desirable historic chronograph. The details are what make this one special, you will not be disappointed in aquiring this one.
